Sophisticated Summer Tented Wedding
As a wedding planner in Chicago, one of my favorite things to see is two cultures come together in a multicultural wedding celebration. Jadwiga and Yonas’s wedding had so many wonderful elements - from the beautiful, tented wedding reception to the merging of Ethiopian and Polish cultures, it was truly a magical day. Jadwiga and Yonas’ story began when they met at Fremont in Chicago for St. Patricks’ Day followed by dinner at Sweetwater Tavern and Grill where they stayed until the restaurant closed. A few years later, they returned to Sweetwater, where Yonas romantically popped the question.
When it came to planning their wedding, they were excited to finally see their romantic, outdoor Chicago wedding vision come to life. We planned a dreamy summer wedding in the STUNNING backyard of Jadwiga’s brother’s home. Jadwiga envisioned a clear-top tent wedding, with a garden feel. We helped Jadwiga and Yonas not only find the perfect tent, but also the best vendor team to help execute their vision.
The day started with the bride and bridesmaids getting ready at Jadwiga’s parents’ home. The festivities began with the arrival of a Polish Highlander Band.
The wedding ceremony took place at Jadwiga’s childhood church, SS Cyril and Methodius Church in Lemont, IL, making the ceremony extra special for the bride and her parents. One of the Jadwiga’s uncles surprised the couple with two lovely white doves that Jadwiga and Yonas released after the ceremony.
After the ceremony, guests arrived to the Jadwiga’s brother’s home for the reception. Jadwiga always envisioned having their reception under a clear top tent to see the beautiful summer sky transition from day to evening. The tent was adorned with romantic bistro lights, and the tables were set with a romantic, organic centerpieces giving the tent a romantic garden feel. And of course, you can’t have a Polish wedding without Polish Vodka (oh boy)!
The wedding reception was full of sentiment and fun, from the lovely speeches from the Best Men and Maid of Honors, to the fabulous setlist, merging popular wedding reception tunes with popular Polish and Ethiopian music, it was beautiful seeing Jadwiga and Yonas’s families come together.
